Bessie Lynn Webster November 26, 1925 – March 12, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Bessie Lynn Webster, 93, has transitioned into eternity, celebrating with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven, after a long battle with cancer. Bessie Webster, nee Lynn, is survived by her children, Pene (and Carl) Miller, Robin (and Perry) Harrison, Kevin (and Julie) Webster and Andrew (and Joanne) Webster; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her husband, William Blair Webster; her sister, Harriett Ridgeway; and brother, John Lynn.

Bessie was born on November 26, 1925 in Logan Township, Altoona, Pa. to Ross Edgar Lynn and Cleo Rouser. Her grandparents were, on her father’s side, John Miller Lynn and Margaret Emigh, and on her mother’s side, John Gideon Rouser and Carol Corte.

She married William Blair Webster on May 24, 1946 in Washington, D.C. Bessie was a charter member of the Greenbelt Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and spent countless hours helping wherever she could. She is now singing in God’s Heavenly choir. (Read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

) As one of the original GHI members, Bessie lived for many years in Greenbelt, Md. , where her children grew up. She was always a fixture at 71 Court, being surrogate mom, Cub Scout Den Mother, and friend to all the kiddies there.

After retirement from the Government Printing Office, Bessie moved with Bill down to Lake Monticello, Va. , where she lived for many years. After Bill died, she moved to Charlottesville.

Bessie was loved by her family and friends. She was always cheerful and loving to others. She will be missed.

Services will be for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Billy Graham Evangelic Association (www. Billygraham.org) or the American Cancer Society(www.
