Gary Lincoln Bock August 03, 1954 – February 25, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook It is with great sorrow, but also exquisite joy that Gary Bock has entered into the heavenly place prepared for him by his Heavenly Father. Gary Lincoln Bock, 64, died on February 25, 2019 in the Linden House at Branchlands of Charlottesville, Va. Born in Ridgewood, N.J. on August 3, 1954, Gary was the son of the late Harry Honold and Virginia Porter Bock.

He graduated from Scarsdale High School in New York and received his MBA from William and Mary. Early memories for Gary were spent on the family homestead in Greeley, Pa. and summers in coastal Maine.

Gary moved to Charlottesville in the late 1970’s working for GE Fanuc, GE Ericsson, Liberty Fabrics and National Optronics. Gary’s faith led him in many directions. He mentored youth both in Lynchburg and at First Presbyterian Church where he also served as a Deacon and Elder.

He was very active in the Men’s Monday morning prayer group, soup kitchen leader, The Bridge Ministry and AHIP. He later enjoyed fellowship at Peace Lutheran Church. He was an avid supporter of Compassion International and sponsored numerous children in poverty.

Gary enjoyed dollhouse making, cherry pie, Boy Scouts, camping and spending time with his family, children and friends. Gary leaves on this earth his former spouse Joanne Bock; children Lydia Grace Bock, Aaron Kennedy Bock, and Simon Everett Bock all of Earlysville, Va. ; brothers Gordon Bock of Kensington, Md.

and Geoffrey Bock (Loren) of Bluffton, S.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to friends Maureen Eckenroth (Larry) and Ann Compton, and the staff at the Linden House. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Richmond, Va.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Cornerstone Community Church. Everyone is asked to come and bring your thoughts and fondest memories of Gary. In lieu of flowers, a donation or memorial contribution can be made to Compassion International, www.compassion.com, or the CASPCA, PO Box 7047, Charlottesville, VA 22906, caspca.org/give/donate-now/ Gary was a blessed man and a blessing to many others.
