Barbara A. Wood February 17, 1932 – May 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Barbara Ann Wood, 87, of Charlottesville, Va. , died on May 17, 2019 at Hospice of the Piedmont. Born February 7, 1932 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of William and Christine Rhodes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan J. Wood; and two sisters, Alice Staples and Lucy B. Rhodes. Barbara was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She cherished her family and friends.

She also found enjoyment in her flowers and birds. Barbara is survived by her two sisters, Nellie Houchens and Hazel Johnson; her four children, daughter Donna Harding and husband Jimmy Harding of Esmont, Va. ; sons Jeff Wood and his wife Joan Craig Wood of Charlottesville, Mark Wood and his husband Richard Deus, Jr., of Washington, D.C., and Dennis Wood of Charlottesville; and three grandchildren, Logan, Quentin and Brian.

The family would like to thank the Prayer Partners and the Hospice House of Piedmont for their support of Barbara. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home, 201 N. First St., Charlottesville, VA 22902. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail Charlottesville, VA 22911.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her memory to Prayer Partners, 2797 Proffit Rd. , Charlottesville, VA 22911.
