Sylvia Leona Simpkins September 07, 1946 – May 12, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Memorial Donation Sylvia Leona Simpkins, 72, of Ruckersville, Va. , passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. Born September 7, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William and Lura Godsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Simpkins; son, Scott Simpkins; daughter, Stephanie Moon and her husband, Bill; sister Hellen Martin; brothers Norman Godsey and Melvin Godsey; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Marie Simpkins and her friend of 40 years Sherry Dudley, who were both like sisters to her; and good friends Peachy Roach, Paula West, Martha Goolsby, and Margie Collier. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 at Hill & Wood Funeral Home – Greene Chapel, 15075 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, with Rev.

Ronnie Sipe and Rev. Ron Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Hill & Wood – Greene Chapel in Ruckersville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sylvia’s honor may be made to the Phillips Cancer Center, c/o Martha Jefferson Hospital, 500 Martha Jefferson Drive, Charlottesville, VA 22911, or the Emily Couric Cancer Center, c/o UVA Health Foundation, PO Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908-0773.
