Mrs. Betty J. (Burns) Freeman, 85, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 in her daughter’s home in Fayetteville, PA. Born September 12, 1933 in Waynesboro she was the daughter of the late Elmer G. and Harriet C. (Seifert) Burns. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area.
Mrs. Freeman attended Waynesboro Area Schools. She and her husband, the late Robert H. “Jack” Freeman, Sr., were married January 13, 1951 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Freeman passed away January 10, 2011.
Mrs. Freeman was a homemaker. She attended Calvary Assembly of God, Waynesboro and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Robert H. “Jay” Freeman, Jr. of Fort Loudon, PA; five daughters, Linda E. Green of Quincy, PA, Gloria J. Strine and Marcella E. Ankerbrand, both of Fayetteville, PA; Wanda K. Straley of Marion, PA and Roberta I. Davis, of Chambersburg; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Beulah Myers of Waynesboro; one brother, Earl Burns of York, PA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Richard Burns, Vivian Orris, Kathleen Smith, Hilda Swisher, and Edna Mae Smith. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 13, 2019, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 South Broad Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor Herbert S. Busick, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy.
