Brian Smith October 28, 1970 – March 11, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Funeral services for Brian Smith, 48, of Hudson will be held Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Cindy Doran officiating. Graveside services with Fire Fighters Honors will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Cherokee County.

Brian was born October 28, 1970 in Lufkin, Texas to Barbara (Marze) and the late Richard Smith, and died Monday, March 11, 2019 in a hospital in Galveston. Brian was a lifetime resident of Hudson, graduating from Hudson High School in 1989. He worked in Security at the Lufkin State Supported Living Center and started his own business, Custom Computer Concepts of East Texas.

He was a dedicated volunteer in the community, serving in the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years. While serving, he was the General Manager of the “Total Insanity Haunted House” fund raiser and was on the K9 Search and Rescue Team. He served as City Marshal in Lufkin for 6 years.

Brian loved his four-legged friend, “Ollie” his cat, and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Survivors include his son, Dalton Smith McCleskey in Pollok; mother and stepfather, Barbara and Pete Zapata of Lufkin; sisters, Jennifer Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah and Julie Smith of Hudson; uncles and aunts, Robert and Donna Smith, David and Debbie Allen, all of Hudson, and Charles and Mary Smith of Lufkin; stepmother, Jacquelyn Smith Russell of Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father.

Pallbearers will be Sam Foster, Clay Welch, Rodney Allen, Ryan Allen, Mike Stephens, and Krystal Jayroe. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 154931, Lufkin, Texas 75915.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be added, and live webcasting of the services may be viewed at www. carrowayfuneralhome.com.
