Richard A. “Dick” Collmorgen November 26, 1932 – March 05, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries Funeral services for Richard A. “Dick” Collmorgen, 86, of Lufkin will be held Friday, March 8, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mark A. Newton officiating and Eulogy by Robbie Smith. Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery. Mr. Collmorgen was born November 26, 1932 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Annie Jane (Askins) and Julius Arnold Collmorgen, and died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in a local hospice facility.

Mr. Collmorgen was a lifelong resident of Lufkin and proudly served his country in the United Sates Army. He retired from Lufkin Industries after 42 years of service as an Electrician. He was a rancher and was an avid calf roper when he was a young man back in the ‘50’s.

He enjoyed working on his ranch and loved his grandchildren, especially watching them compete in rodeos and participate in sports. Mr. Collmorgen was a member of Redland Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dorris Collmorgen of Lufkin; sons, Richard Arnold Collmorgen, Jr. and wife Connie, David Ross Collmorgen and wife Angie, and Joseph Todd Collmorgen and wife Robin, all of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jessica Clark and husband Chris of Ennis, Clayton Collmorgen, Kate Collmorgen, Julia Collmorgen, and Helena Collmorgen, all of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Vivian Clark and Callen Clark of Ennis; sister, Helen McCarty and husband John A. McCarty of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Claudette Beaird of The Woodlands; special caregivers, Martin and Laura Venegas and Liz Cagle; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Billy Collmorgen and wife Nan; sister, Jane Yates and husband Walter; brothers-in-law, Pat Caton and wife Jennie, Doyle Brashear and wife Agnes, and Lynn Beaird. Pallbearers will be Charles Yates, John Yates, Frank McCarty, Jimmy McCarty, Dennis Hughes, James “Buddy” Hughes, Joe Ed Eddings, Jerry Clarke, and Clayton Collmorgen. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Davis, Kent Askins, Ricky Womack, and the sons of Otto J. Brittain; Keith, Kim, and Jay.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or First Baptist Church Lufkin Building Fund, 106 E. Bremond Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
