Shirley Ann (Smithheart) Hollingsworth October 15, 1951 – March 01, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Funeral services for Shirley Ann (Smithheart) Hollingsworth, 67, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Cochran Cemetery. Mrs. Hollingsworth was born October 15, 1951 in Lufkin, Texas to the late MayBell (Harvey) and George G. Smithheart.
After a long courageous battle with cancer, she passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 1, 2019 with family by her side. She was raised in the Ora Community of Huntington and attended high school there. She married her best friend, whom she adored, Joe M. Hollingsworth on July 7, 1978 and shared 40 loving years together.
Shirley was a cook at Stoneleigh Estates for 15 years and a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, cooking, watching soap operas, and spending time with family. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Joe Hollingsworth of Hudson; daughter, Melisa Hollingsworth of Huntington; brothers, David and Emma Gene Smithheart of Orange, Roy and Suzanne Smithheart of Clute, and Daniel Ray Smithheart of Cypress; sisters, Josie Smithheart of Hudson and Pearlene Jacks of Lufkin; brothers-in-law, Paul and Ruth Ann Hollingsworth, Tommy and Jonnie Hollingsworth, William Hollingsworth, Billy Hollingsworth, all of Hudson, and Jerry Hollingsworth of Pollok; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Devilla (Cameron) Hollingsworth; and brother-in-law, Paul Jacks. Pallbearers will be Randy Segrest, David Smithheart, Roy Smithheart, Ray Smithheart, Edward Hendry, and Steven Hollingsworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Smithheart, Stoney Bryan, and Lee Roy Harvey.
The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to all Hospice in the Pines doctors, nurses, and caregivers for the excellent care and compassion given in the last several months. May God bless you all for the work you do every day. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon prior to the service at the funeral home.
