Obituary for C. Ruth Sobotta Carrie Ruth Sobotta February 5 1927 – December 24, 2016 Wenatchee, WA Ms. Sobotta passed away December 24, 2016, after a long illness. C. Ruth Knight was born to David and Anna Knight in Indianola, IL, in 1927. She was one of seven children.

Spending her childhood in an orphanage, in Illinois, during the great depression, made her the strong-willed and tough woman that she was. Ruth moved to Central Washington in the mid 1940’s, where she settled with her first husband, Greenville Shropshire. They had two sons: Charles David and John Henry.

She remarried a few more times and in her marriage to Ray Meuret, she was introduced to what would become a life-long love of golf. During her fourth and final marriage to Gerome “Bud” Sobotta, they enjoyed many years of golf, being fixtures in many tournaments in the tri-state area. She retired from Central Communications in 1989.

In her later years, she still enjoyed golf and crocheting. She outlived all of her siblings and most of her friends in the valley. She is survived by her sons, Charles and John; seven grandkids; and many great-grandkids.

She will be greatly missed. Arrangements have been made by Telford’s Funeral Home, East Wenatchee, WA. She will be laid to rest on April 5, 2017.

Services will be at Telford’s at 2:00 p.m. Intern entry will be at Evergreen Memorial Park at a later date.
