Carl Ippolito, 86, passed away peacefully Friday, May 4, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on July 23, 1931 to Carl and Mary (Inga) Ippolito. He was one of thirteen children whom he loved very much.

He lived in West Springfield for a total of 50 years, 40 of which he was known by his neighbors as the Mayor of Lynne Drive. Carl was loved by all who knew him well. His presence was bigger than life with a sense of humor to match.

His greatest joy was his family and dearest friends. His love of laughter and life was only second to his love of music and the piano which began when he was a child and continued into adulthood as a professional musician and composer. He eventually founded Carl’s Piano Company in Springfield.

Carl spent hours sitting at his piano playing the music of some of the greatest composers of all time such as Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and his favorite, Chopin. He leaves behind his beloved and devoted wife of 64 years and sweetheart of 70 years, Florence (Rosamilia) Ippolito whose love story began when they were sixteen years old. He will be missed by their son Carl and his wife Patricia, daughter Karen and her husband Richard and their cherished grandchildren, Erica, Deanna and Anthony along with great grandson, Gavin.

He will be lovingly remembered by his surviving sisters and brothers as well as his nieces and nephews. Carl’s final arrangements will be private at the request of his family. Donations can be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
