Caryl W. Prince, 101, of Salinas and formerly from Sacramento, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 22, 2018. Born in Sacramento to Herbert and May Prince on May 19, 1917 he just marked his 101st birthday on Saturday. Joining the Army Air Corp during WW2 he was stationed at the Salinas airbase.

He met and married Maren Elizabeth Lorentzen before being shipped to the Pacific. After the war they lived in Sacramento for 60 years where Caryl built and sold houses while Maren worked as a legal secretary. He then worked for the hospital in Sacramento, in charge of the maintenance group doing general repairs and locksmithing.

After retiring he used his machine tools to make various model engines. He later switched to woodworking and made many wood carvings. Caryl was always busy with his hands.

Preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, Maren Prince, he is survived by his niece and nephew, Karen and Jeff Lorentzen. At his request, no flowers or service will be held. Donations can be made to the donor’s favorite charity.

Entombment at Garden of Memories Cemetery is on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 12:00 Noon.
