Charles Tony Newman, November 03, 1954 — March 16, 2019

Charles Anthony “Tony” Newman, 64, of Mount Airy, and formely of Asheboro, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 16, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Settler officiating. Burial will follow at High Pine Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

Tony was born November 3, 1954, to Isaac “Ike” Frank Newman and Gladys Butterworth Powers Newman, both whom preceded him to Heaven. Tony was a mechanic until he could no longer work. He loved tinkering with cars and fishing, but mostly he loved spending time with his family.

Tony was a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, Tony’s brothers, Calvin Wade Wilson and Arlon “Cotton” Powers, sister, Loretta “Ducky” Newman Queen, and grandchildren, Jesse Ray Smith, and Jimmy “JW” Wade Galyean Jr., are waiting to greet him. Tony is survived by his wife Teressa Dykes Newman, of the home; sons, Richard Franklin Hall, of Maury, NC, Charles Anthony Newman II and wife, Amanda, of the home; daughters, Amanda Thompson Wing and husband, David, of Norwood, NC, Patricia Newman Galyean and husband, Jimmy of Mount Airy, Sonia Danesha Ingram of Norwood; brothers, Everette Franklin Powers and wife, Becky, of Asheboro, Isaac “Buddy” Frank Newman, Jr., and wife, Donna, of GA, William Russell Queen and wife, Jane, of Mount Airy; sisters; Myrtle Powers Thompson and husband, Carl of Mount Airy, Marita “Rita” Newman Robertson of GA, Shirley Wilson, of Mount Airy; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 prior to the services at Ridge Funeral Home.
