Whit Alexander Cross, 92, of Asheboro, NC, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Randolph Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheboro. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dexter Trogdon officiating.

Burial will follow at New Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Born in Randolph County, NC, on August 4, 1926, Whit was the son of the late Worth Cross and Percillia Cross. He was a member of New Salem Methodist Church.

He worked as a cutter at Harrellson Rubber Co He was a logger and also loved to farm and sell his produce, especially his watermelons. He was a great Daddy.

In addition to his parents, Whit was preceded in death by brother, Worth Cross; sisters, Nancy Payne, Dorothy Cross. Surviving are his son, Oscar Patterson and Judy, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Capressa D. Edwards, Christopher Alexander Gladden; step grandchildren, Kenneth Lewallen, Amanda Walker; four great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019, prior to the service at Ridge Funeral Home.
