JANESVILLE—Clayton N. Ames, age 83, passed away at home on Sunday, April 29, 2018. He was born in Rossville, IA on August 19, 1934, the son of Austin and Helen (Hoffman) Ames. He married Dolores Mae Nagel on March 31, 1956, in Wauzeka, WI.

Clayton served in the US Army from 1952 to 1955. He was a member of the VFW. Clayton retired from General Motors in 1991.

He loved camping, gambling at the casino and playing cards at home with his family. He also loved to watch the Green Bay Packers. Clayton is survived by his wife, Dolores; 3 children: Dick (Kathy) Ames of Janesville, Sandra (Troy) Ames of Janesville, Dennis (Anne) Ames of Beloit; grandchildren: Patrick (Victoria) Ames, David (Amy) Ames, Joshua (Kimberly) Ames, Jenifer (Matt) Ames, Dustan (Samantha) Ames, Travis (Nikki) Ames, Selena Ames and Joseph (Kim) Ames; 13 great grandchildren; siblings: Audrey Bennet, Darlene Moon, Bonnie Hines, David (Judeen) Ames, Meredith (Gary) Gentes and Marilyn (Bob) Havlik; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Ames; sisters, Donna Mae Protsman and Diane Benhart; and brother, Calvin Ames. Special thanks to Dr. Stoiber and Beth, Dr. Jane Anderson and staff, Agrace Hospice and especially Angie and Christine. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY .
