Dan Rae Wolfe, 65, of Polk, Nebraska died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island with Pastor Luke Biggs officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 21, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church.

Dan was born on July 31, 1953 to Don and Bonnie (Renquist) Wolfe in York, Nebraska. He grew up in the Stromsburg area and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1971. He then attended Chadron State College where he received his Bachelors and later received his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.

After college, he moved to Polk and worked at Benedict Schools. This is where he met his future wife. Dan married Sandy Reetz on June 9, 1979 in York, Nebraska.

Dan then taught at Polk Schools from 1983 to 2001. He then went to Stromsburg, teaching from 2001 to 2009. After his teaching career, he began working as a crop adjuster for Diversified.

Dan was a member of Trinity Lutheran in Polk and Faith Lutheran in York. Dan enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved hunting pheasants, playing pool, landscaping, touring wineries, and spending time on the farm caring for the cows.

Dan enjoyed Western movies and novels as well as spending time at the cabin, driving his pontoon boat. He was also an avid bargain hunter. He is survived by his wife- Sandy of Polk, NE; one son- Lee and Leslie Wolfe of Grand Island, NE; one daughter- Sarah and Sydney Hamilton of Omaha, NE; one brother- Dave Wolfe of Columbus, NE; one sister- Debra and Ken Wesch of Arlington, NE; six grandchildren- Braylon, Amirah, Mavrik, and Lenayah Wolfe of Grand Island, NE; Blake and Liv Hamilton of Omaha, NE.
