Daniel J. Abata, 59, of Dover, formerly of Erie, died peacefully, Sunday, January 13, 2019. Born in Erie on November 21, 1959, he was the son of the late John and Juanita (Rigard) Abata. He was the husband of the late Jean (Shewan) Abata; she died March 12, 2005.

Daniel was the loving fiancé of Rita Arnett of Dover. Daniel was an engineer for Johnson Controls, York. He was a member of the Hawk Gunning Club.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Daniel’s love in life was to be with his family. He especially enjoyed family trips to Myrtle Beach and Disney.

He will be missed. In addition to his fiancée Rita, he is survived by his daughter, Allison Mansberger and her husband, Sean of York; his son, Michael D. Abata of Dover; his brothers, Dennis Abata and his wife, Colleen of Erie and Kenneth Abata and his wife, Diana of Erie; and his sister, Diane Walker and her husband, Keith of Erie. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York.

There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial service for Daniel in Erie will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E.
