Obituary for Danny Cook Mr. Danny W. Cook, age 54, of Rowe, Virginia, passed away Thursday (June 14, 2018) in a Kingsport, Tennessee hospital. Born August 14, 1963 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late James William and Dellie Fay Street Cook. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a graduate of Honaker High School.
He was a former coal miner having been employed by United Coal Company and enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, paternal grandparents, Clovis and Victoria Cook, and maternal grandparents, Rell and Callie Street. Survivors include two sisters, Sue Shortridge and husband, Ralph, and Dean Brown and husband, Jerry all of Rowe, Virginia; four brothers, Dempsey Street, and wife, Tina, Larry Cook, and Tony Cook all of Rowe, and Gary Cook and wife, Regina of Honaker; several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Seth Shortridge officiating. Interment will follow in the Rell and Callie Street Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Danny Cook Memorial Fund, c/o Honaker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1620, Honaker, Virginia 24260. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Saturday, where a song service will be conducted at 7:00 PM.
