David G. Cooper, 72, of Owensboro, died on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at his home. He was born on October 29, 1945 in Owensboro to Charles W. Cooper and Bessie Cauley Cooper. David worked for J & J Amusement and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member and trustee of the Fraternal Order of Eagle for 28 years. He is preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Cooper, brother, Larry Cooper, and mother-in-law, Martha “Tommie” Pendleton. There is no greater gift in life than the gift that one gives others.

David gave unselfishly to others all his life. His devotion to his family was unsurpassed; he never missed a day without speaking to his beloved mother. He was a champion of any cause that helped others, whether it was a charitable cause, or just others in need.

David was always there. He is survived by his wife, Vickie Harrington; a daughter, Michelle West of Winder, Georgia; a son, Stephen Cooper of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Bessie Cooper; three sisters, Patty (Bill) Pierce, Judy (Terry) Murphy and Vicki (Bernie) Mulligan; one brother, Michael Cooper; sister-in-laws, Kathy (Donnie) Wright and Jamie (Doug) Sailors; brother-in-law, John (Crystal) Harrington; step children, Audra Ricke and Brad Greenwell; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the David Cooper Memorial Fund, c/o James H. Davis Funeral Home, 3009 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
