Debra Marlene (Mutchler) Johnson passed away peacefully at the age of 57 on December 31, 2018 at her home with family by her side. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM where family will receive friends from Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Debbie will be 12:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Jim McDowell officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Debbie was born on February 23, 1961 to Lorence “Larry” and Jeanette (Bartlett) Mutchler in Burlington, Iowa at Mercy Hospital.

She graduated from Burlington High School in 1979. In June of 1979, she married John Johnson at Harmony Bible Church in Danville. Debbie accomplished much in her 57 years of life.

She worked at General Electric as an HR secretary where she met her future husband, and then later worked for an attorney as a secretary. In 1987, she and John opened up J.J. Auto Sales from their home in West Burlington. She raised four children and was very active in their activities and interests including Girl Scouts, high school rodeo, dance, softball, cheerleading and wrestling.

She also served on the West Burlington School Board. She was integral in forming the West Burlington wrestling programs and the high school football press box. John and Deb were also fortunate to take a vacation every year of their marriage, including 14 years attending the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis, SD.

While there, Debbie went tandem sky diving twice. She was creative and adventurous, unafraid to live life to its fullest; whether it be through sky diving, arm wrestling, dancing or singing karaoke. One of her most beloved activities was spending time with her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, John Johnson; four children: Chad (Kristin) Johnson, Catherine (Thomas) Hansen, Christopher (Hannah) Johnson, and Cindy (Ryan) Cantonwine; mother, Jeanette Mutchler; grandmother, Mary Peacock; brother, Kenneth Mutchler; sister, Carolyn (Craig) Calloway; as well as nine grandchildren: Natalie and Kaylee Johnson; Sean, Sarah, and Seth Hansen; Xavier and Madalyn Johnson; Riley and Dane Cantonwine; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lorence Mutchler.
