The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 pm Saturday, January 12 at Parkwood Baptist Church. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 pm with Pastor Michael Waters officiating.

Don was born November 17, 1938 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Fred Morris Newsome and Gladys Brown Newsome. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Newsome. Don retired from Flowers Bakery after many years of service and was an active member of Parkwood Baptist Church.

There are fond memories of “dad the coach” when his boys played ball as well.
