Donald John Gede November 04, 1952 – February 06, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Donald John Gede, 66 years of age, and a resident of Henrietta Township, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at UH Amherst Medical Center Emergency Room. He was born November 4, 1952, in Elyria, Ohio. Donald had been a lifetime resident of Henrietta Township, graduating from Firelands High School with the class of 1971.

He was employed as a machine repairman at Nordson Corporation for forty-five years before retiring in March of 2018. Donald was a member of the Machinist Local #1802 where he served as the President for over 20 years. He was a member of the LaGrange Steam Engine Club.

Donald enjoyed antique truck and tractor restoration, woodworking and collecting for antiques. He was active with the Lorain County Fair and served as a 4-H advisor. When his children were younger, Donald coached T-Ball and softball.

He treasured his family and friends and the time he spent with them. Survivors include his wife of forty-one years Patricia “Pat” Gede (nee: Demos); his children Michael Gede (Cassie Lahetta) of South Amherst, Nicole Grills (Matthew) of Camden Township, Laura Bremke (David) and Jenny Andolsek (Doug) both of Wellington; thirteen grandchildren; his father John Gede of Henrietta; his siblings John Gede (Jan) of Henrietta Township and Susan Giancaterino (Jim) of Sheffield Lake and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Florence Augusta Gede (nee: Sagert).

Friends may call Sunday, February 10, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Rev. Jenni Walker Noyes, pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
