Fowler, 87, of Lopatcong Township passed away Friday, February 22, 2019 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Warren. Born August 1, 1931 in Phillipsburg she was the daughter of the late Fred and Viola (Rinehart) Baty. She was a Municipal Deputy Clerk with Lopatcong Township.

She was a 1948 graduate of Phillipsburg High School. She was previously employed as a legal secretary for Robert Meyner, who became Governor of NJ, and also worked for several local attorneys. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed spending time at Lake Wallenpaupack and Long Beach Island, with her family. Doris was also an avid bowler and reader and excelled at crossword puzzles. Additionally she enjoyed going to the County Clerk’s Monthly Luncheon.

She was an active member of First United Church of Christ in Easton; and a member of the County Clerk’s Association. She is survived by a son Dr. J. James Suydam; two daughters Becky McDermott and husband, Jack and Janice Hilsenbeck and husband, Keith; seven grandchildren, Tracee Lilly (Pat), Kristi Horan (Brian), Marci Tate (Justin), Brynn Hilsenbeck, Kelsie Hilsenbeck, Rachel Maloney (Pat) and Erin Suydam; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Sidney Fowler who passed in November, 2016, her first husband, Jim Suydam; and a sister Agnes Carhart.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
