DeNicola, 93, of Windham, NH passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, January 6th, 2019 at Warde Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 20, 1925 to the late Ella (Kinreed) and William Brennan. She was raised in Roxbury, MA and attended local schools.

Dorothy married the love of her life, Thomas C. DeNicola. They started their life together in the Boston area and then moved to Windham, NH, where she was a resident for the last 63 years. Dorothy “The Queen” was known for her quirky pocket embellishments on everything and anything.

She lived every day to the fullest and left her mark where ever she went. She was the bright light in the room. She enjoyed creative sewing and gardening, especially when it came to tending her prize winning peonies.

She never missed a bingo game. She loved going to yard sales and just couldn’t walk away from a deal! She enjoyed writing poetry, children’s stories, and songs.

She was very musically inclined and loved to perform; she loved to sing and dance, her favorite performer was Elvis Presley. She especially enjoyed performing in senior talent shows and was a member of the Salem Seniors Singing Ensemble who traveled to various senior centers and nursing homes in the community. She was also a fabulous cook and enjoyed making her special Italian sauce.

Dorothy was very active with the Salem Senior center, where she was the first senior gal to play pool. She played 4 days a week until she was 90 and even had her own pink, inscribed pool stick which was a gift from her fellow pool players. She is survived by her son Thomas R. DeNicola and his wife Doris of Thonosassa, FL; her two daughters, Maralynn Mohs of Portsmouth, NH and Rosalind DeBlois of Windham, NH; five grandchildren, Fayleen Rioux of Londonderry, Pettina Harden of Appleton, ME, Debra Fodera of Bradenton FL, Faith Legendre of Glen Cove, NY, and Dorothy Long of Plant City, FL; two step grandchildren, Vanessa Mills and Corey Gomis; eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Pepe, Jennifer DeNicola, Kayla Forbes, Patrick DeLaPaz, Gary McRorie, Deserie Long, Joey Long, Madison Long; as well as four great-great grandchildren Sara DeNicola, Sabrina Tayler, Vivian Forbes, Bella Forbes.

She is also survived by seven of her ten siblings; Cynthia Clark, Joanie Pierce, Audrey Haldane, Mavis Beam, Elizabeth Kvugaluk, Ann Kenny and William Brennan. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Thomas C. DeNicola and two of her siblings, Donald Brennan and Muriel David. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19th at 10:30 AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Warde Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 21 Searles Road Windham, NH 03087.

Interment will follow at Cemetery on the Plains in Windham. Memorial donations may be made to the Salem Senior Center 1 Sally Sweet Way Salem, NH 03079 and Compassionate Care Hospice, 18 Orchard View Drive Londonderry, NH 03053. Arrangements are in the care of Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH.
