Obituary of Dorothy Miller Dorothy L. (Foudray) Miller, 83, Monroeville, entered the arms of Jesus at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Born on January 7, 1935, in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, Dorothy was the third of eleven children born to Belford H. and Lillie B. (Hatfield) Foudray. In 1942, her family moved to Marion, where Dorothy grew up and married the love of her life, Donald R. Miller, in 1951.
Dorothy was a strong, opinionated woman who loved to give the long version of a story. Her smile was genuine and beautiful. She had the greenest of thumbs and enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers in and outside her home.
Dorothy had a true servant’s heart, always there to help others. She showed this over the years while raising her three daughters, working in restaurants and nursing homes, volunteering at Marion VA Hospital, delivering Meals on Wheels, and helping her neighbors in declining health. A member of The Salvation Army in Marion, Dorothy believed it was best to show the love of Jesus through actions, and she did that by teaching Sunday School, helping in the kitchen with cooking or cleaning, and visiting those confined to their homes or nursing homes.
Dorothy’s witness was solid and unwavering at all times. A true of pride and joy for Dorothy were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, to whom she provided a firm foundation of faith, hope, and love. Even as her health declined, Dorothy continued to show a spirit of thanksgiving and encouragement.
It was with true sincerity she would say “God’s blessings. Love you”. Remaining here to continue her legacy of love are daughters, Carolyn JoAnn Walters, Ronda (John) Woods, Trenda (Shari Daniels) Miller; grandchildren, Michele (Robert Rigdon) Coffey, Aaron R.K. Walters, John (DaLonna) Woods II, Joshua (Myra) Woods, Andrew Woods, Megan (Phillip) Mitchell, Miranda (Richard) Clark; great-grandchildren, Clayton, Corbin, J.D., John III, Shelby, Gracie, Isabella, Milas, Augustus, Reece, Daelee, Atticus; great-great-grandsons, Keagon and Caden; brothers, Ronald Foudray, Junior (Joyce) Foudray, Gilbert (Linda) Foudray; sister, Nevie Loch; brothers-in-law, Ray Woodall and Paul Hogan; special “son”, Ron (Kathy) Walters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; and siblings, Ina, James, Frances, Madline, Laura, and Iva Jean. A Celebration of Life service will be at The Salvation Army, 359 N. Bradner Ave. , Marion, at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Salvation Army in Marion or Fort Wayne.
