Douglas Gene Joseph, born March 10, 1934, loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather passed away July 10, 2018 at Oakwood Village, Springfield after a brief illness. Born March 10, 1934. Proceeding him death were his parents, Harry and Gladys Joseph, his brother, Paul Joseph and sister, Dorothy Joseph.

He married Barbara J (Dunn) Joseph on November 25, 1961. He worked for Navistar for 32 years before retiring in 1992. After retiring from Navistar, he began working for Young’s Dairy… Read More » managing “Udders and Putters” for 15 years.

He was affectionately known as “Dad” to many of the kids. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Barbara, and children Julie Jones (Johnny Clark) of Centerville, and John Joseph, five grandchildren, Curtis Fowler, Cooper and Carley Jones, Mollie and Lindsay Joseph and their mother, Kelly Joseph; sister Hope Balint; sisters-in-law Vicki (Alan) Miller, and Donna Aspengren of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He proudly served in the US Army Honor Guard in Washington DC.

He earned his pilot’s license in the mid-60s and enjoyed taking the family on weekend trips. He enjoyed watching any history show that involved US aviation history. An Ohio State Buckeyes football fan, he spent many Saturdays at the ‘Shoe’ with his brother, Paul, Barbara and friends.

Throughout the years, he never gave up on the Cleveland Browns. He was an enthusiastic and avid golfer, sinking 3 Holes in One over his lifetime. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Elks lodge.

He was a member and Chancellor Commander of the local chapter of the Knights of Pythias. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where services will be held on Friday, at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Powell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial will follow in the Vale Cemetery.
