HELEN B. HIXSON, 98, of Springfield passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at her residence with her beloved family and caregivers by her side. She was born January 10, 1920 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Martz) Ridgeway. Helen was a member of St John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and later Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She worked 35 years as Civilian Personnel Manager at WPAFB. Helen was past President of the Women’s Town Club… Read More » and Springfield Club. Survivors include her son, Lindsey S. Hixson (Linda Harrison) of Jamestown, Ohio; two grandsons, Todd (Ginger) Hixson and Justin Hixson; four great-grandchildren, Caedin, Haley, Taylor and Evan Hixson and one nephew, Chuck (Cathy) Ridgeway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hixson; one brother, Charles Ridgeway and daughter-in-law, Candace Hixson. A very special thanks to all of Helen’s caregivers, Barb, Marie, Evelyn and Kelli. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 10-11 AM in the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1801 St Paris Pike, Springfield.

Celebration of Helen’s life will begin at 11 AM in the church with Pastor Daniel M. Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the charity or church of choice.
