Dr Charle Wayn Higgins , September 07, 1947 — April 20, 2018

Dr. Charles Wayne Higgins, 70, of Bowling Green entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2018 in Bowling Green. Dr. Higgins was a native of Ft. Worth, TX and he was born September 7, 1947.

He was preceded in death by his father Charles Wiltshire Higgins and mother Myrtle Marshall Higgins. Dr. Higgins was a graduate of Texas Christian University with a B.A degree and a Masters of Arts in Psychology. He obtained his PhD from the University of Texas Medical Branch, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Galveston, TX.

Dr. Higgins was Professor Emeritus of Public Health in the Department of Public Health at Western Kentucky University. He was Professor of Public Health for 28 years specializing in healthcare administration, with special emphasis in health care economics. In 2003 he was appointed Head of the Department of Public Health.

. Throughout his academic career, he was actively engaged in research and other scholarly pursuits. Results of his research were published in numerous scholarly publications and presented at professional meetings.

He was active in local, state, and national professional associations, and often provided guidance and consultant services to private entities. He also served on numerous committees and councils at the University. Dr. Higgins was an excellent teacher who was well-liked and respected by his colleagues and students.

Dr. Higgins loved and studied military history, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air National Guard. He was an avid sailor, he enjoyed visiting with his close friends and especially loved his beloved wife, sons and his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 40 years Mary Higgins, two sons Sean Marshall Higgins and Dr. Bartlett Moore (Dana DeMaster).

Three grandchildren Mallory Higgins, Zachary Higgins, and Blaise DeMaster Moore. The family will have a private memorial service and arrangements have been entrusted to J. C.
