Hughie Clarence Blankenship, 74, of Bowling Green entered into rest Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Hospice House. Hughie was born November 16, 1943 in Bowling Green, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson Sr. and Selma Blankenship, step-mother Ethel Downing Blankenship, step-sister Ann Downing Hocker, a sister-in-law Nancy Hatfield Thomas and 2 nephews, William Blankenship and Justin Reynolds.

Hughie was a retired U.S. Postal Service employee and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Moore Blankenship, 2 sons; Kevin Blankenship and daughter-in-law Neeka of Franklin, TN and Scott Blankenship and daughter-in-law Tracy of Bowling Green, KY. Four grandchildren; Lauren Blankenship, Adam Blankenship and his wife Nadia, Spencer Blankenship, all of Bowling Green, Kevin Chase Blankenship of Franklin, TN.

He was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-grandson. He is survived by one brother, Nelson Blankenship Jr. of Maitland, Florida. He is also survived by one brother-in-law Nathan Moore of Huntsville, AL, three sister-in-law; Patricia Glasscock Howard, Janette Meyer (Jim) and Sharon Oliver (R.D.), several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, June 10, from 4-8 PM and Monday, June 11, 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Hospice House (Hospice of Southern KY) or the deaf ministry at First Baptist Church of Bowling Green.
