Earl’s Obituary Rev. Earl Howard “Howdy” Dawson, 78, of Red Lick, TX, died Sunday, February 17, 2019, in Houston, TX. He was born September 22, 1940, in Crockett, TX.

He was a United States Naval Air Force veteran. He was a United Methodist Minister, having served as District Superintendent, and attended Hardy Memorial United Methodist Church and Williams Memorial United Methodist Church. He will be remembered by many for his random acts of kindness and mercy.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Dawson; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Michael Whitehurst of Penrose, CO; grandson, Dawson Lee Woods of Red Lick; one brother, Dr. John Avon Dawson and wife, Marty, of Reklaw, TX; sister, Adelia Manley and husband, Jim, of Cypress, TX; sister-in-law, Alice Dawson of Brookeland, TX; and a number of other relatives. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 22, 2019, at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Brad Morgan, Rev. Patrick Evans and Dr. John Avon Dawson officiating.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SMU Gift Administration Fund for Perkins Theology, PO Box 750402, Dallas, TX, 75275, or a charity of your choice.
