Edna Solomon of Glen Carbon and formerly of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon at the age of 100. She was born February 25, 1918 in Edwardsville, a daughter of the late Otto and Lena (Wolf) Longwish. She married Russell Charles Solomon Jr. of Webster Groves, Missouri on June 16, 1938 in St. Louis, Missouri and he passed away in January 1993.

Edna was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Edwardsville, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter KH and Sunset Hill Country Club. She was a loving homemaker who cherished her family and was devoted to raising her children. She enjoyed life, loved her friends and loved playing golf and bridge and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by five children, Roberta “Robbe” and Charles Brown of Kirkwood, Missouri, Russell and Lela Solomon III of Edwardsville, Katherine Claudson and Richard Sprengeler of Fairview Heights, Richard and Mary Solomon of Maryville, Nicholas and Pat Solomon of Deerfield, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Solomon of Atlanta, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Solomon; a son-in-law, Bill Claudson; two grandsons, Doug Brown and Stephen Solomon; three sisters and a brother. In celebration of her life and in accordance to her wishes, Edna will be cremated and a private family memorial service will be held.
