Obituary for Edward Richard “Eddie” Hyser Edward Richard “Eddie” Hyser went to be with his savior, Jesus, at the age of 74 on October 9, 2018. He resided at Senior Commons for approximately a year prior to his death. He was born on November 20, 1943 at the Rosemiller Farm, the son of Justine “Tina” and Edward Hyser.
He and his wife Betty celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on September 26. As a boy, he worked on the farm. Eddie was a 1961 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.
He was known to his 520 Plumber Pipe Fitter Union brothers as “Fast Eddie”. When on the job, he was a go getter, never wasting any time to get the job done. He was recently honored as a 50 year member of the Union.
In his early days, he enjoyed playing softball. He played in the local’s 1st softball tournament. He also enjoyed golfing.
In addition to his wife, Eddie is survived by his children, Mark Hyser and wife, Pam, Eric Hyser and wife, Angie, Bryan Smith, Sue Eckert and husband, Oz, Tim Smith, Tom Smith, and Chris Smith and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Steve Hyser, Zach Hyser, Emily Hyser, Austin Stevens, Ryleigh Hyser, Ryan Smith, Rachael Smith Walace, Jamie Smith, Alison Smith Martet, Shane Eckert, Chase Eckert, Chad Eckert, Travis Eckert, Tim Smith, Amanda Smith, Joel Smith and Brandi Smith; along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a sister, Barbara Stackhouse. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Steve Hyser. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York with Pastor Dan Delosso officiating.
A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
