Obituary for Paul M. Lenyo Paul M. Lenyo, 68, died on October 5, 2018 after a two year battle with prostate cancer. He was married to his much younger wife, Elaine (Reckard) for twenty eight years. Born in Hastings on November 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Paul and Ethel (Lihvarchik) Lenyo.

Paul travelled the country for twenty five years while working as a construction superintendent for Eichleay Corporation. His projects were mainly in the steel mills, but Eichleay’s contract to build the Kellogg Lancaster Plant brought him to this part of the state. Paul’s great passion was cooking, which led him to his second career as a pastry chef.

He graduated from YTI’s pastry arts program and within a few years purchased Sugarplums & Tea from Marianne Weaver who was looking to retire. He was the executive chef and owner for ten years before he too decided to retire. Next, Paul used his cooking talents working with Hands Across the Street, the food ministry in Columbia, before his illness sidelined him.

Paul was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan, Pirates not so much. He was an excellent handicapper and loved to bet the horses. His winnings from the track financed his frequent trips to Las Vegas.

Besides his wife, Paul is survived by his brother, James, of Denver CO; sisters, Dorothy Gillespie of S. Williamsport, Patricia Chverchko, and Jeanne Gindlesberger both of Johnstown. Paul adored his nieces and nephews, Gerald Chverchko, Matthew Lenyo, Mick Lenyo, Melissa Johnston, Shawn Gindlesberger, Jennifer Gindlesberger, Samantha Reckard, Juliette Reckard, Jack Reckard and Darien Chverchko. He was preceded in death by his niece, Krista Mary Chverchko.

Elaine Lenyo would like to thank the staff at LGH 7 Lime and Mennonite Homes for the wonderful care Paul received during his time with them. There will be visitation on Friday October 12, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 700 Hellam Street, Wrightsville.
