Obituary for Steven M. Heiland Steven M. Heiland, 62, of Hallam, PA, died at UMPC Pinnacle Harrisburg on October 1, 2018. He was the husband of the late Brenda Mae (Shaffer) Heiland. Born October 8, 1955 in York, PA, he was the son of Doris (Dellinger) Heiland of Hallam, PA and the late Paul C. Heiland, Jr. Steve retired as a telecommunications engineer from the former Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.
He was a 1973 graduate of Eastern York High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from York College in 1977. Steve was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Hallam, the Hellam Area Jaycees from 1978-1983, the Kreutz Creek Ambulance Club, the Pennsylvania Emergency Medical Technicians and coached several local recreational sports teams. Steve is survived by three children, Cindy Murdock and her husband, Mike of Dover, PA, David Heiland and his wife, Chris of Mount Wolf, PA and Jennifer Franks and her husband, Michael of Dover, PA; a companion, Cathy Bishop of Hallam, PA; five grandchildren, Michael Murdock, Mason Murdock, Brionna Heiland, Alaina Heiland and Carter Franks; a brother, Kevin Heiland and his wife, Deb of York, PA; and a sister, Brenda Hester and her husband, Chris of State College, PA.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Friday October 5, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St. York, PA with Pastor Vernon Shenberger, officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Fairview Cemetery.
