Obituary for Sara Anne Linkous Sara Anne Linkous, 89, of Columbia died October 1, 2018 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late William D. Linkous. They were married for 51 years prior to Bill’s death in 2004.
Born January 26, 1929 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (Moser) Etzweiler. Sara Anne and Bill were owners of C.A. Herr, Inc. and C.A. Herr Antiques Annex in Columbia. Sara Anne graduated from Columbia High School in 1947 and was the class treasurer.
She was a 1951 graduate of Lebanon Valley College and attended Millersville University. She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church where she was served on many boards and was involved with various committees. She was also a Sunday School teacher.
Sara Anne was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW), Columbia Women’s Club, and the Columbia Historic Preservation Society where she served as treasurer. She was a Cherry Red Lady at the Columbia Hospital and the cookie chairman for the River View Neighborhood Girl Scouts. Sara Anne also served on the Columbia Borough School District School Board.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Sue and her husband, Brett Bertoli of Lancaster; 2 grandchildren, Brandon Bertoli of Lancaster and Brittany Bertoli of Mountville; sister-in-law, Judy Linkous Ruben of VA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, William D. “Chip” Linkous, II and her brother, Edward Etzweiler. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Columbia United Methodist Church, 510 Walnut Street, Columbia, with Pastor Tom Grubbs, her pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery, Columbia. Viewings will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. both at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Retirement Community, 3952 Columbia Avenue, West Hempfield Twp.
