She grew up on the family farm in Nance County and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1948. Following graduation, Eley was employed at BD’s in Columbus. She met her husband, Henry “Hank” Santin, at a New Year’s Eve Dance.
While Hank was in the service, Eley moved to New Jersey where she was employed. Following Hank’s discharge, the couple returned to Nebraska in April 1954 and were later united in marriage on August 9, 1954 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton. The newlyweds made their home on a farm between Palmer and Fullerton where they raised their four children, Henry ‘Bud’, Sharon, Tom, and Jeanne.

A year later, Eley took up residence at Brookefield Park in St. Paul, where she lived until her death. Eley loved spending time with her family and enjoyed attending various activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She also loved all aspects of country living including: tending to her flowers and garden, canning, farming, raising cattle and other livestock, enjoying the Loup River, and morning coffee around the kitchen table. She was a fan of Husker volleyball and football and ruled the card deck at Crazy 8’s and King’s Corner against her grandchildren. She will especially be remembered for the many meals she prepared for anyone that walked through her door.
