Obituary for Theresa Amelia Nearhood OCEANSIDE, CA–Theresa Amelia Nearhood, 101, of Oceanside, CA, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2018, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Fullerton, NE with Father David Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary and scripture service at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Theresa was born in Fullerton, Nebraska to August and Eva Wetovick on July 28, 1917.

She attended Cedar Rapids High School and graduated in 1935. She taught grades 1 through 8 at District 30 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. She went on to work for the Navy during World War II and, later, worked in retail.

Throughout Theresa’s life, her grace, beauty, kindness, and extraordinary love for her family and faith was constant. Her light will shine for all that loved and knew her forever. Theresa is survived by her son, Randy Nearhood, and daughter, Kathe, of Oceanside, California; sister, Addie Smith of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Nearhood; son, Jed; parents, August and Eva Wetovick; sisters, Lorette Olson and Delphine Whelan; and brothers, August Wetovick Jr., Theodore Wetovick, Paul Wetovick, and Dennis Wetovick. The family wishes to express their gratitude to The Elizabeth Hospice, McCormick Mortuary, Palmer-Santin Funeral Home, and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
