Obituary for Albert Charles Micek FULLERTON—Albert C. Micek, 75, of Fullerton, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Tabitha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton. Reverend William L’Heureux will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton with military honors by Fullerton American Legion Post 151. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 17th with a 7 p.m. rosary and scripture service at the church. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Albert was born on July 16, 1942 to Joseph and Helen (Uzendoski) Micek at rural Nance County near Fullerton. He grew up in the North Star area, where he attended school until eighth grade. He graduated from Fullerton High School in 1960.

He enlisted in the Seabees I.P.O. program for active duty on May 10, 1966. He was assigned as a squad leader in the steel worker platoon of the DELTA company U.S. Naval Mobile Construction Battalion, FIVE from July 8, 1966 to April 1, 1968, serving two tours of duty in the Republic of Vietnam. Albert was very proud to have served his country.

On October 17, 1970, he married Barbara Dush in Fullerton. He worked construction for Christensen Construction in Newman Grove for several years and then BD Construction in Columbus from 1990 until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the VFW, and the American Legion where he served in the Color Guard.

He enjoyed gardening, polka music, watching his grandchildren’s activities, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Fullerton; daughters, Mary (Brian) Dohmen of Lincoln, Lynda (Kent) Frenzen of Silver Creek, Karen (Jason) Fix of Lincoln, and Barbara Jean Micek of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren, Tyler Dohmen, Jacob Frenzen, Matthew Dohmen, Karson Fix, and Josie Fix; three brothers, Joe (Sue) Micek of Omaha, Ray (Mary) Micek of Grand Island, and Ted (Marge) Micek of Shelby; two sisters, Theresa (Leonard) Harms of Dodge and Geraldine Wrzenski of St. Paul; and one sister-in-law, Janie Micek of Grand Island. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gerard (Margaret) Micek, Nathaniel Micek, and Jack Micek; sisters, Bernice (Sylvester) Starzec and Loretta (Adrian) Schuyler; and brother-in-law, Raymond Wrzenski.
