Elizabeth Ann’s Obituary Elizabeth Ann Jones Walker, 88, of Port Republic, VA died January 25, 2019. She was born March 12, 1930 to the late John C. and Anna Bonham Jones. Born and raised in Chilhowie, VA, she graduated from Chilhowie High School, Marion College, Carthage College and Michigan State University.

She taught at Konnarock Lutheran High School, Konnarock, VA and was a Home Demonstration and 4-H Agent with Virginia Cooperative Extension Service in Bedford and Botetourt Counties. On May 13, 1962, she was united in marriage with David Edward Walker, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded by a brother, Hugh M. Jones, and a sister, Cordelia J. Richards.

Surviving are children David E. Walker, II, Port Republic, Suzann W. Hughes (John), Salem, VA and Jane L. Walker, Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren, Willie D. Hughes, San Antonio, TX and Katherine E. Hughes, Newport News, VA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Shenandoah, VA for over fifty years, a volunteer 4-H Leader in Rockingham County for over twenty years, past member and president of Virginia Cattlewomen and currently a member of Wayland Woman’s Club. Hobbies included knitting, genealogy and yard work.

A memorial service will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 199 Fourth St., Shenandoah, VA 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 30, 2019. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday January 29, 2019 Kyger Funeral Home; 115 Nicholson Rd.

Elkton, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 199 Fourth St., Shenandoah, VA 22849 or charity of choice.
