Obituary of Elizabeth Wells Elizabeth “Betty” Anne King Wells, age 88, of Elmira, NY passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Elmira, NY. Elizabeth was born on March 22, 1930 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late David J. and the late Bernice (Smith) King. She married John Wells on October 5, 1979 in New Jersey.

He preceded her in death on April 27, 2016. Elizabeth worked as a nurse at various locations before beginning employment at Eagle Pond Rehabilitation and Living Center in South Dennis, MA, retiring in 1993. After retirement, Elizabeth became a very busy volunteer.

She volunteered as an ombudsman for nursing homes, she served on the board at Franklin Home Care, COA Board of Shelburne Senior Center, Colrain Counsel on Aging, and volunteered with Hospice of Cape Cod. In her free time Elizabeth will be remembered for her love of knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader, a great cook and loved to bake goodies for her family.

She also enjoyed going for walks in the woods with her dog, Molly and time spent by the seashore in MA. She enjoyed participating in yoga classes for seniors. Elizabeth recently opened her heart to the Lord and we rejoice that she is now in His presence.

She is survived by children: Cynthia (Michael) Paliotta of Horseheads, NY, Claire Nelson of Wappingers Falls, NY, Chris Hermann of OH, Tom (Edda) Hermann of FL and Steve (Michelle) Hermann of FL; step-children: Terry Wells of NJ, Claudia “Shelley” Wells and Cynthia Wells both of MA; eight grandchildren: Michelle, Corinne, Lianne, Christina, Jonathan, Emily, Desiree and Angel; many great grandchildren; twin brothers: Peter (Arlene) King of Deerfield, MA and Paul (Mary) King of VA and FL; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Elizabeth was predeceased by siblings: David John King, Thomas J. King, Janet Sheldon and twin sister, Patricia Gallagher. It was Elizabeth’s wish that there be no services.

Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. John Schiavone and the staff of St. Joseph’s Skilled Nursing Facility. Their loving care was greatly appreciated.
