Eloise Stines McIntosh, 99, of Hardscrabble, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation. A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Fuller and Bessie Fox Stines. She was the wife of Wintz McIntosh who died in 2012.

Eloise was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mildred Stines and Winna Stines. She taught school at Bald Creek Elementary for 25 years. Eloise was active in her church, Bald Creek United Methodist, was Past Matron of the Eastern Star, member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority, and the Yancey County Extension Service.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Niles Ball; a granddaughter: Emily Hudgins; 2 great grandsons: Dalton and Dakota Hudgins; a great granddaughter: Madison Grace Hudgins, all of Burnsville; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Roberts of Marshall and Jean Stines of Weaverville; and, a brother: Fred Stines of Morganton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday in Bald Creek United Methodist Church.

Rev. Keith Haverkamp will officiate. Burial in be in the Proffitt Cemetery on Hardscrabble Road.

The family will receive friends from Noon until 2PM Saturday prior to the service at the church. The family gives special “thanks” to Nina Burleson and Karen Watts, and the staff of Smoky Ridge for the care given to Eloise. Memorials may be made to Bald Creek United Methodist Church, Building Fund, C/O Nan Proffitt, 43 Beechwood Drive, Burnsville, or Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
