Elsie W. Lowery, age 89, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. She was born on April 15, 1929 in Des Arc, Arkansas, to Homer and Lelia (Capalena) Willis, both of whom preceded her in death. On December 6, 1953 in South Bend, Elsie married Joe Thomas Lowery, Sr., who preceded her in death on October 27, 2003.

Elsie is survived by daughter, Sharon (Kermit) Shaw of Williamson, GA; son, Joseph Thomas (Nina) Lowery, Jr., of South Bend; step-daughter, Betty Noonan of Covington, TN; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Elsie is also survived by a sister Louise (Edwin) Logsdon of West Fork, AR, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Elsie was preceded in death by granddaughter, Angela Shaw; sisters, Helen Cox and Juanita Williams; and brothers, Raymond Whitlock and Ralph Whitlock.

Elsie was employed as a brake assembler at Bendix for thirty years. She was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic since 1963, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed time spent with her family, and her passion for the Lord was felt by everyone she touched.

Funeral services for Elsie will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Christ Temple Apostolic, 2307 Elwood Avenue, South Bend, IN. Pastor James McKinnies will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.

Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00pm on Friday, November 2nd at Palmer Funeral Home—West Chapel, 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend. Additional visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Saturday at the church prior to services. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Elsie may be donated to Christ Temple Apostolic, 2307 Elwood Avenue, South Bend, IN 46628.
