Ernest Ralph “Ernie” Hodgkin Sr. Ernest Ralph Hodgkin Sr., 77, husband of Eleanor Koloski Hodgkin, the love of his life, died unexpectedly on Tuesday April 24, 2018. Born in New Gloucester, Maine on June 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Vernon and Ethel (Jewett) Hodgkin. He had resided in Meriden for over 59 years.

Ernie was the owner and operator of Liftech Equipment Services for over 20 years and was previously employed by H.O. Penn for over 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the North Italian Club and a long time member of the P.B.A. and New Britain Fish and Game. He was an avid hunter, archer and fisherman, he loved the outdoors, but above all, he was a loving and caring husband, a devoted father and grandfather.

Besides his loving wife of 56 years he is survived by his daughter, Debby Kamens and her husband Michael, his son, Ernie Hodgkin Jr. and his wife Kelcy, five grandchildren, Tom, Erica, Nicole, Troy, and Ella, three step grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, and Dalton, and a great-grandson, Lucas. He was also survived by two brothers, Buster and Chuck and five sisters, Frances, Gail, Maxine, Sharon and Audrey. Ernie was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Herbert and two sisters, Odna and Lorraine. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 12 noon at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St. Meriden. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
