VONRICHTHOFEN – Ernest W. vonRichthofen, 59, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, July 21, 2018 after a long, courageous battle. He was the loving husband of Anastasia “Stacey” (Kuhn) vonRichthofen for close to 19 years. Born November 17, 1958 in Torrington, CT; the son of Ernest F. and Ursula (Stuhlman) vonRichthofen of Canton.

Ernie was employed for 40 years as an IT Engineer, most recently at Cigna. He was a huge NASCAR fan, loved Fords,… Read More » and had a passion for driving. He enjoyed camping, cooking, smoking meats, and enjoyed a good Martini or beer.

He relished the time eating out with family and friends – like Holly and Tom. He was a multi-talented person who could fix almost anything, and he creatively, painstakingly built his beautiful farm in Burlington. He loved the animals on the farm, and they loved him, especially Bugsy the horse and Opal his dog.

Ernie was the first to lend a hand or to offer his assistance to someone in need. He was a wonderful husband, son, father, grandfather and friend who celebrated family above all else and will be truly missed. In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his beloved children, Daniel vonRichthofen and wife Corey of Torrington, Kathryn vonRichthofen of Washington, DC, Samantha Higley and boyfriend Paul of Harwinton and Emmett Higley and fiancé Sarah of Rocky Hill; two cherished grandchildren, Shyann and Kaylan; two brothers, Philip vonRichthofen and wife Terrie of Canton and Dirk vonRichthofen and wife Tammie of Tolland; and many, many close friends.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at the family farm, 50 Town Line Road, Burlington at 10:30 AM with friends and family invited from 10 – 4 PM.
