Obituary for Evelyn Arlene Nickel (Obenauf) Print Evelyn Nickel, 79, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. Born in Wadsworth, IL, on August 25, 1939, she was the daughter of the late George and Rose (Pitzen) Obenauf. Evelyn owned and operated The Wooden Nickel from 1986, until her retirement in 2005.

She did this with her longtime significant other, John Sikich, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2018. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and socializing with her customers and friends, and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan. She is survived by her children, Mark Nickel, Alan (Mary) Nickel, Heidi Nickel, and Joseph Nickel; seven grandchildren, Anita (Oliver) Howitt, Eric (Ruth) Nickel, Domenic Nickel, Andrew Nickel, Jarret (Autumn) Nickel, Michael Puckett, and Kyle Nickel; and five great-grandchildren, Ashton, Leland, Finley, Luke, and Ruby.

She is further survived by three siblings, Norman Obenauf, Patricia Vaplon, and Rose Rowland; other relatives; and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin S. Nickel on October 10, 1975; and four siblings, John “Jack” Obenauf, Marion Conkel, Doris Mitchell, and Richard Obenauf. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 3rd, at Proko Funeral Home, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
