Evelyn Murray Mullins-Vaughn, age 93, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 17, 2019, at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Hawkins County on May 19th, 1925, to the late App Murray and Mattie Jenkins Murray. She was saved as a young girl and was the oldest living member of Walker’s Fork Missionary Baptist Church, where she also taught Sunday School for a number of years.

Her life was a testament of her dedication to the Lord. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Glen T. Mullins; her second husband of 17 years, Roy Vaughn; infant daughter, Marilyn Lou; son, Danny Mullins; step-mother, Grace Murray; brother, Bob Murray; sisters, Georgia Purkey and husband Paul, and Callie Crawford and husband John; brother-in-law, George Adams; and son-in-law, Doug Light. She is survived by her children, Gene Mullins and wife Brenda of Kingsport, Carolyn Lawson and husband Larry of Fall Branch, Barbara Tilson and husband Jerry of Greeneville, and Rosa Light of Kingsport; grandchildren, Brian Mullins, Lori Mullins Bellamy, Mark Mullins, Carrie Lawson Faust, Barry Lawson, Amy Tilson Shelton, Allison Tilson Weems, Jeremy Tilson, Kim Light Arrowood, Jessica Light Morgan, and Sarah Light; great grandchildren, Joshua Bellamy, Madison Bellamy, Jamy Shelton, Rob Shelton, Bailee Weems, McKinlee Weems, Macy Faust, Charlie Faust, Keaton Faust, Kaitlyn Pratt, Aiden Pratt, Clark Arrowood, Kelby Arrowood, Emma Mullins, Andrew Mullins, Abby Mullins, Adrian Tilson, Hailey Queen, and Ryman Morgan; sister, Clara Adams; brothers, Donald Murray and wife Phyllis, and Jim Murray and wife Nancy; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gaye Malone and husband Jerry, and Bea Penley and husband Charlie, all of whom became like family, and special niece, Donna Crawford, for their devotion and love in their care of our mother. Also, to Dr. Kevin Misischia for his years of exceptional care and the love that he has always shown to our family. Special thanks as well to Suncrest Hospice for their wonderful care.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Walker’s Fork Missionary Baptist Church, 6441 Lone Star Rd, Kingsport, or anytime at Evelyn’s residence. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 pm with Rev. David Bolden officiating.

Burial will follow in Walker’s Fork Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Mullins, Brian Mullins, Jeremy Tilson, Jason Weems, Chad Bellamy, Weston Morgan, Chuck Faust, and Tony Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Lawson, Jeff Arrowood, and Donald Murray Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walker’s Fork Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Carolyn Lawson, 174 Forrest Rd, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
