Evelyn’s Obituary Evelyn S. Bailey, 86, of Winfield, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 4, 2019. She was born on January 14, 1932, in Charleston, to the late Rufus and Myrtle Stover. She retired from CAMC Memorial after many years of service.

She loved to travel by bus to Florida to visit her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Junior Bailey; daughter, Vanessa Shamblin; son, Vernon Bailey; brothers, Boyd Stover, Delmer Stover; sisters, Mat Atha, Audrey Knight, Nellie Gillespie, Bessie Pauley, and Virginia Lanier. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Sharon Grant (Curtis) of Winfield; sons, Steve Bailey of Huntington, Pastor Paul Bailey Sr., (Diana) of Charleston; grandsons, Colin Grant (Shannan) of Culloden, Kevin Grant (Natalie) of Hurricane, Paul Bailey Jr., (Jennifer) of Poca, Vernon Bailey Jr., of Myrtle Beach, SC; granddaughters, Kelly Asbury (Dickie) of Hurricane, Deona Kemerer (Kevin) of Sissonville, Jenny Jones of Dunbar, Tammy Young (Troy) of Louisville, KY; host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her special smoking friend, Harriet Allison.

The family would like to thank the staff at Putnam Center for their love and care of Evelyn. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar, with Pastor Paul Bailey Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
