Frances Gould Woods , April 10, 1931 — June 28, 2018

Frances E. Woods, age 87, beloved mother of six passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on June 28, 2018. She was born on April 10, 1931 in Yarmouth, Maine to the late Joseph Clifford Gould and Margaret Gould of Wilton, Maine. Frances was a beautiful lady of great faith who truly lived her life as a Servant of God putting the needs of others before her own.

Her musical talents… Read More » were not limited merely to instruments as she possessed a remarkable whistle with a stunning vibrato the memories of which will always be cherished by her children along with her marvelous sense of humor. She had an inquisitive mind that she kept largely hidden but it could not stay concealed as it would on occasion reveal itself such as during special trips to her childhood home with several of her children in her later years.

Surviving is her husband of 59 years, James C. Woods along with her children Jeffrey Woods and spouse Maureen of Myersville, MD, Michael Woods and spouse LeAnn of Richmond Hill, GA, John Woods and spouse Terri of Frederica, DE, Robert Woods and Donna Mayfield of Ridgecrest, CA, Margaret Ann Woods of Simpsonville, SC, her sister Eunice Gould of Washington, DC, nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Rosemary Woods, her sister M. Margaret Gould of Bridgeport, Connecticut and her brother, Joseph Gould of Fayette, Maine. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church with Father Jonathan Goertz officiating.

Family will receive friends on Sunday night from 6-7 pm at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Franklin Turnpike, Danville, Va. Memorial donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 538 Central Blvd, Danville, VA 24541.
