Obituary for Frances Pauline Eastep Miller Frances Pauline Eastep Miller of St. Albans, WV joined her husband, Woodrow W. Miller Sr. In their heavenly home on Friday, June 1, 2018. She was born to the late Jess and Clayte Eastep on March 25, 1926 in Boone County, West Virginia. Pauline was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Woodrow W. Miller, Sr.; sisters, Irene Bender, Genevieve Price, Hazel McCollum, Patsy McCollum and Dessie Kinder and brothers, Jess Estep and Harry Eastep.
She is survived by her five children, Philip (Paulette) Acord, Martha (Freddie) Harless, Woodrow W. (Jeanie) Miller Jr., Elaine (Tom) Gillispie and Mark Miller and sister, Peggy McCormick and brother, Phillip Estep. She was grandmother to 13 grandchildren and great grandmother to 21 great grandchildren. Pauline was aunt to many nephews and nieces and surrogate mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to many other children and youth with whom she came in contact.
Pauline was the fourth of ten children that grew up on a farm in Ridgeview, WV during the depression. As a young girl of fourteen, Pauline made a profession of faith at the Ridgeview Presbyterian Church and was later baptized at the Madison Baptist Church. At seventeen she attended a Trade School in South Charleston and was sent to Baltimore, Maryland to work in the Washington Piston Plant and later as a pipe fitter at the Submarine Shipyards where she was nicknamed “Polly the Pipe Fitter”.
She came back home when the war ended. The loves of Pauline’s life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. But she never met a stranger and made everyone she came in contact with feel loved and valued.
Her sparkling eyes and beautiful smile would light up the room and make everyone feel like they had known her their whole life. Pauline was the last surviving charter member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church where she had attended for 51 years. There was a healthy competition between Pauline’s family and her church family for her attention and affection.
