Obituary for Karen Jean Mundy Karen Jean (Santrock) Mundy was the second child born to the late James (Mick) and Billie Jean Santrock on December 11, 1955, growing up in Dunbar, WV. She married the love of her life, Doug Mundy, in 1982 and lived 36 wonderful years with him, their family, and their many, many friends. Karen passed away peacefully surrounded by family Saturday afternoon July 21, 2017 in South Charleston, WV after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Graduating from WV State College, she enjoyed a very successful career in mortgage banking. Beginning as a loan processor in the ’80s, she spent 14 years in several roles at BB&T, and eventually rose to Vice President and Area Sales Manager at Fifth Third Bank, where she also worked 14 years. She believed in serving her community, taking great pride in helping people buy homes both professionally and through her charity work.

All of this was possible through her passion, dedication, and tireless work ethic that inspired those around her every day. Karen lived a full and happy life. She brought joy, enthusiasm, and love everywhere she went.

She will be greatly missed by the people who were lucky enough to have her in their lives. In addition to her husband Doug, Karen is survived by her son Michael; daughter Kaitlyn and her wife Ashley; brother David, his wife Susan, and their sons Joshua and Aaron. At Karen’s request, no services will be offered.
