Obituary for Molly Lee Brown Molly Lee (Meeks) Brown, 96, of Pensacola, FL, formerly of Hometown, WV, went home to be with the Lord September 28, 2018. Molly was born July 3, 1922, in Plymouth to the late Herbert and Blanche Meeks. She married William A. “Bill” Brown, Jr., February 27, 1941.

They built a home and family in Hometown. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Bill” Brown, Jr.; daughter, Linda; grandson, Rusty Wagner; sisters: Dare McClintock, Betty McGrew, Eunice Null; and brother, Eugene Meeks. Molly is survived by her son, William A. “Bill” Brown, III (Beth) of Pensacola, FL; granddaughters: Angie Asbury, Pam Asbury Miller, Wendy Wagner Davis, Anna Brown Pakes; grandson, William A. “Bill” Brown, IV; sisters: Katie Muck and Joann Walls; brothers: Harley Meeks and Guy Meeks.

She is survived by three great-grandsons: Hunter Wagner, Andrew Pakes, and Kevin Pakes; and four great-granddaughters: Jordan Harris, Hannah Cyrus, Brooke Davis, and Haley Wagner. She is also survived by two great-great granddaughters: Hallie Davis and Jada Harris. Molly was always proud to be called a Coal Miner’s Daughter and “the Unsinkable Molly Brown”.

She was very proud of her humble WV roots and her WV hills. She was a perfect gardener, cook, baker, and homemaker. Her pies were the best around!

She took special pride in her beautiful flower gardens and cooking talents. The best gift from Molly was a tin of her delicious cookies or fudge. At her home, there were always homemade sweets to share with visitors and strangers alike.

A senior member of the Wilkinson Memorial United Methodist Church in Hometown, Molly loved singing in the choir, quilting with ladies of the church, and making candy for the church’s Christmas fundraisers. She also enjoyed church services in Pensacola. Molly cherished the many vacations she and her husband, Bill, spent at Lake Sherwood in Greenbrier County.

She was known as the lady who knew how to catch the “big” fish. Molly was a very special West Virginia lady. Molly’s Celebration of Life will be held at Chapman Funeral Home, Winfield, on October 6, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Graveside service will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens in Red House. Molly loved flowers and requested they be part of her celebration, but monetary donations may be made to Wilkinson Memorial United Methodist Church, Hometown, WV.
